Dr. Lisa Platt is an assistant professor of Counseling Psychology at West Virginia University and a licensed psychologist in West Virginia. As an ally and advocate for social justice considerations, Platt specializes in multicultural psychology, with a focus on sexual orientation, gender and gender diversity topics. Much of Platt's recent research has explored gender diverse family relationships, such as transgender partnerships. She is the recipient of the 2017 SPECTRUM LGBTQ+ Award from the Association for Women in Psychology, which recognizes research focused on addressing the psychology of gender and sexual minorities. She received her PhD in Counseling Psychology from Penn State University in 2008.
